Monday 26th July: It's all over. The answers to the World Cup Competition are now revealed! (click here for a direct link!)
Sunday 25th July:
BIG NOISE ran an uncharacteristically lifeless race at Ascot yesterday, leaving trainer, jockey and owners scratching their heads.
Thursday 22nd July:
BIG NOISE is declared for the International Stakes at Ascot on Saturday. What a fantastic day of racing at the Berkshire track and we are privileged to be part of it! This time round we have a double figure draw, 19 of 22. Fingers crossed this is in his favour. Some of the more fancied horses are drawn in single figures which, historically, has proved to be disadvantageous. CONTEMPLATE has an entry at the elegant Surrey track that is Sandown Park on Wednesday evening.

Hoping for a huge run: BIG NOISE at Ascot on Saturday
Wednesday 21th July: Best laid plans have most certainly gone astray. Today's two runners have, extremely unfortunately, become non-runners and what looked to be an exciting day for connections at Leicester races has been called off . MELTING BOB ran no sort of race yesterday at Yarmouth. Having hurdled a path on the way to the start she then slipped badly in the same place on the way back and was, very sensibly, eased down in the closing stages. SANCTUM and ROMANTICIZE are declared for Newmarket on Friday evening.
Monday 19th July: Declarations have been made for JUNKET and DEADLY SILENCE at Leicester on Wednesday evening. BIG NOISE has been confirmed for the big 7 furlong handicap at Ascot on Saturday, King George day.
Sunday 18th July: It's an afternoon out at Yarmouth on Tuesday for MELTING BOB. She had entries at 6 and 7 furlongs and it's the latter distance she has been declared for.
Saturday 17th July: Yet more entries. SANCTUM and ROMANTICIZE are in here at Newmarket on Friday evening. If they run they will help warm up the crowd for top band Razorlight who will be performing after racing is over.
Friday 16th July: Next Wednesday sees a couple of heavyweight entries. JUNKET and DEADLY SILENCE, the 2 heaviest horses in the yard, are both entered at Leicester's evening meeting. The horsebox wears a worried look. I've studied the contours of the route to the Midlands track and hope to avoid any hills, should we decide to go. DEADLY SILENCE is also entered at Sandown but would not be accompanied by the 'big bird' on that trip. SILENT APPLAUSE has returned fine and well from yesterday evening's visit to Epsom. He wasn't able to repeat his heroics of 2 weeks ago and recorded a fifth this time out. It was a race with an unexpected runaway winner that no-one would have caught.
Weighing in at the races next Wednesday? JUNKET (far right)................... and DEADLY SILENCE (left). SILENT APPLAUSE: from first to fifth
Wednesday 14th July: On Bastille Day, MELTING BOB re-enters the fray with a double entry at Yarmouth on Tuesday afternoon.

Bobbing along: MELTING BOB has two entries at Yarmouth
Tuesday 13th July:
SILENT APPLAUSE is declared for Epsom on Thursday evening. He will be returning to the scene of his victory a fortnight previously. SANCTUM , in the meantime, may be on her way to Yarmouth on Monday afternoon to contest a 12 furlong handicap.

SANCTUM (nearside): coasting
Monday 12th July: There's a turf entry for CONTEMPLATE at Lingfield on Saturday evening. She has preference for faster ground. Whether she has any chance of getting it, nobody knows! The track here at Newmarket has been described as firm in the latest going reports, which is unusual. The week ahead looks unsettled so things may well change.

CONTEMPLATE (far side): thoughts of Lingfield
Sunday 11th July: World Cup Willy reveals his final clue as the showdown between Spain and Holland kicks off later today. If you have persevered with the quiz and feel you have a hatful of right answers, please e mail them directly to us. (Click here for direct link to competition page)

It's all over for WORLD CUP WILLY
Friday 9th July: It may be a return to the crime scene for SILENT APPLAUSE. He is given an entry at Epsom next Thursday evening.
Thursday 8th July:
ROMANTICIZE is declared for Ascot on Saturday afternoon.

ROMANTICIZE (left): Ascot action?
Wednesday 7th July:
SANCTUM is declared for the first of an evening card over at Chepstow on Friday evening.

SANCTUM: travelling.
Tuesday 6th July: Warming up for the first day of the July Meeting here at Newmarket. It gets underway tomorrow but the bloodstock sales at Tattersalls kicked off today and they continue until Friday with breaks for action on the racecourse. No declarations were made today as the possibility of rain at Doncaster and Warwick looked remote. DEADLY SILENCE has been given an entry in the prestigious Ebor Handicap that takes place at York during their excellent August Meeting.
Monday 5th July: Ascot could be the destination for ROMANTICIZE on Saturday if (big IF) the ground eased. She is entered in a good prize money 7 furlong fillies' handicap.
Sunday 4th July:
BIG NOISE picked up 4th prize money and best turned out at Leicester yesterday afternoon. He ran well enough, having been settled at the rear of the field with plenty to do in the second half of the race. There has been a steady trickle of entries, several in the hope that the heavens will open and provide us with some better ground. DEADLY SILENCE and SILENT APPLAUSE are in the same race here at HQ on Friday afternoon. SANCTUM might sally forth to Chepstow on Friday evening if rain hits the Welsh track.
Friday 2nd July: It was Derby Day for the JPT Partnership yesterday evening at Epsom when SILENT APPLAUSE followed WORKFORCE'S path around the 12 furlong course and into the winners' enclosure. Half a furlong out we were settling for 3rd position but the brave, little horse thought otherwise, rallied and got up by a head. Liam Keniry picked up the ride at the eleventh hour with intended jockey Louis-Philippe Beuzelin delayed on the road to the Surrey track.
Just passing through: winning smiles in the unsaddling enclosure at Epsom
Two more entries made with fingers crossed for rain sometime in the following days. DEADLY SILENCE has an engagement at Doncaster next Thursday evening, whilst ROMANTICIZE is in at Warwick that afternoon.
Thursday 1st July:
BIG NOISE is declared for Leicester on Saturday. His regular jockey Louis-Philippe Beuzelin is claimed by Sir Michael Stoute to ride at Haydock so Michael Fenton steps in as substitute.
Tuesday 29th June: We were showered with 2mm of rain first thing this morning. I suspect someone mistakenly thought we planned to declare SILENT APPLAUSE for Newmarket. In fact, he is engaged to run at Epsom on Thursday evening where he will be taking on 7 rivals over the Derby trip.
Monday 28th June: There is a chance that BIG NOISE will return to Leicester on Saturday to contest the race he won there in 2009. Sad to say, if he does go, the prize money he runs for will be depleted by a third.

Where has all the money gone? BIG NOISE: running for a lot less at Leicester.
Sunday 27th June: A satisfactory performance from CONTEMPLATE here on the July Course yesterday afternoon saw her finish comfortably in 3rd place. She was left to make the pace and bowled along gamely in front before being eclipsed by the winner and second a furlong or so from home. And as another place is marked down beside her name on her pedigree, her half-sister does her a huge favour by producing the winner of the Group 2 Railway Stakes at the Curragh this afternoon. FORMOSINA, the 2 year old colt out of CONTEMPLATE'S half-sister SCARLETT ROSE popped his nose in front on the line, thus ending the Ballydoyle stranglehold on this particular race.
Friday 25th June:
SILENT APPLAUSE might have the opportunity to try the Derby trip at Epsom next Thursday. He is entered in a 12 furlong handicap at the Surrey track.
Thursday 24th June: CONTEMPLATE partnered by young Kieren Fox, is due to line up with 6 others in the final race at Newmarket on Saturday afternoon. This is a 7 furlong apprentice handicap. A small field (she has a dislike of crowds) and a sound surface should suit the filly.
Tuesday 22nd June: With an eye to the future, BIG NOISE gets an entry in the Abu Dhabi International Stakes at Ascot on July 24th, a mouth-wateringly valuable 7 furlong handicap.
Monday 21st June: Sunshine, blue sky and warmth. Ye of little faith. It is to be hoped that the weather is set fair for a day or two as CONTEMPLATE is entered to run here on Saturday afternoon.
Sunday 20th June: It is rumoured that we are approaching mid-summer. As the winds howl, grey clouds scuttle across the sky and un-forecast rain falls in abundance, I fear it is no more than a rumour. There were 5mm of un-forecast precipitation tipped onto the July Course during Saturday afternoon, turning already watered ground into unsuitable territory for SILENT APPLAUSE. Had his race been earlier in the day and not the last on the card, things may well have been different. BIG NOISE, running the previous evening was not over-enamoured of the going but stuck on into fifth behind an obvious improver.

BIG NOISE'S nose (far left) nudges its way into the picture behind winner MAN OF ACTION
Saturday 18th June: It's encouraging to see 'our families' making the headlines. SILENT APPLAUSE'S full-sister SCARLETT ROSE seems to have produced a nice type in the Footstepsinthesand 2 year old colt FORMOSINA. Having caught the eye at the foal sales he changed hands for 50,000 guineas and was re-sold as a yearling for 105,000 guineas, going into training here in Newmarket with Jeremy Noseda. He made his debut at Newbury in a hot, hot maiden won by subsequent Royal Ascot winner Strong Suit. His next outing saw him pull off a bloodless and impressive victory at Doncaster and he looks to be on his way to competing in Group company.
Thursday 17th June: SILENT APPLAUSE gets the nod in the last at Newmarket on Saturday afternoon. He is being stepped up in trip to 1 mile 5 furlongs so we'll see if he gets that far or not. His galloping companion DEADLY SILENCE might make his seasonal bow on Wednesday evening at Kempton. Meanwhile, here on the gallops ROMANTICIZE brings on two big unraced fillies as they start faster work.
Wednesday 16th June: It's Friday night at the July Course for BIG NOISE as he is declared for the 7 furlong handicap. He takes on 9 opponents as England attempt to conquer Algeria in South Africa.
Monday 14th June: A couple of entries for the Saturday afternoon meeting on Newmarket's July Course. Both DEADLY SILENCE and SILENT APPLAUSE have their names down for the 1 mile 5 furlong handicap at the end of the card.

Double trouble: DEADLY SILENCE and SILENT APPLAUSE in at Newmarket.
Saturday 12th June:
BIG NOISE has an entry here at HQ on Friday evening. He'll be featuring at the first of the 2010 Newmarket nights.

Friday 11th June:
SANCTUM returns in good shape from her latest assault on the racecourse. Her visit to Nottingham saw her come home in 5th place for the third time in a row! She had to wait until the last race to run and found herself a little inconvenienced by the overused ground.
Thursday 10th June: Tomorrow sees the start of a long-heralded football tournament in South Africa known as The World Cup. Football and racing are sporting allies in many ways so to celebrate this partnership we are running a World Cup Competition. Take yourself to the competition page (click here for direct link) and you will find a new clue every day. Collect your answers and e mail them in at the end of the tournament.

Tuesday 8th June: A declaration has been made for SANCTUM at Nottingham on Thursday. She is pitted against 15 others in this 10 furlong handicap and will be partnered by Louis-Philippe Beuzelin who has ridden her on her two previous outings.
Monday 7th June: We've managed to make it rain at both Beverley and Salisbury so SILENT APPLAUSE stays at home. What will the ground be like at Lingfield on Saturday evening? CONTEMPLATE has an entry there on the turf track. She may be playing to an 'empty house' as the country sits itself down to watch England trounce USA in the football world cup!
Friday 4th June: The weatherman seems to be all over the place. Forecasts of rain have appeared from nowhere so entries for SANCTUM are being scattered around, hoping to coincide with some of this elusive precipitation. Thursday sees engagements at Nottingham and Haydock.
Thursday 3rd June:
SILENT APPLAUSE receives another entry. This one is at Beverley next Wednesday.
Wednesday 2nd June: He seems well and the handicapper has dropped him 2lbs so SILENT APPLAUSE has an entry at Salisbury next Tuesday. He has visited the Wiltshire track before and performed well there.

SILENT APPLAUSE (nearside): might head down to Salisbury
