Week Beginning - 08.06.2009

Monday 8th June:

BOBBY CHARLES and galloping companion THE FRYING PAN  both have two entries apiece for Saturday. With the vagaries of flaming June weather always in the back of the mind, bets are hedged. Leicester and Lingfield are the 2 options. The old boy is in a handicap on the turf at Leicester with an all-weather possibility at the Surrey track. The youngster has a 6 furlong entry at Leicester with a 5 furlong option at Lingfield. A graduate of the Kempton breeze up sales held in March, THE FRYING PAN will be making her track debut should she be declared. It will also be first time out for the owner who named his filly after the racecourse where he first experienced  the magic of horseracing, the now defunct Alexandra Park in North London. The course was laid out in a distinctive frying pan shape, hence the nickname.

Thursday 11th June: The very best laid plans can sometimes go just a little bit astray. Saturday's carefully conceived entries went right out of the window this morning as it became clear that no rain had fallen upon Leicester racecourse (with none forecast) and there was no pace in BOBBY CHARLES'S Lingfield all weather race. THE FRYING PAN'S colours  will just have to wait a little longer to go on show. There may well be some action for her next Wednesday, this time on the Kempton polytrack and she may be accompanied to the Middlesex venue by SANCTUM.

Monday 15th June:

SILENT APPLAUSE (top of the ground horse) and BOBBY CHARLES (needs cut) both entered in the same race here at HQ on Friday evening. Work that one out you weather gods! ROMANTICIZE has a possible outing the following afternoon at the same venue. Her first two outings have been over 6 furlongs. Saturday's race is a furlong further.

SANCTUM and THE FRYING PAN are both declared for Kempton's all weather meeting on Wednesday evening.

Thursday 18th June: Action on Friday evening, SILENT APPLAUSE under South African jockey Kevin Shea and Saturday afternoon, ROMANTICIZE partnered by one of her few friends, Ted Durcan keeps the team close to home over the weekend.

Friday 19th June: Pillar to post victory under a supremely shrewd Shea ride for SILENT APPLAUSE on the horse's seasonal debut!
