Week Beginning - 30.03.2008

Monday

Tuesday 31st March: Today hints at spring, slightly warmer, blossom on the trees, daffodils bright and beautiful. Last Saturday was less welcoming, with legions of wintry showers peppered with hailstones marching across the Heath, when 2 lots of fillies scooted upsides along the rubbing house polytrack.

Sunday 5th April: It was a case of 'when TORVER met Bert'. Poor old girl was dragged out of bed early, put on the horsebox and taken all the way over to Gloucestershire for a very brief (but hopefully fruitful) tryst with Bertolini. She was booked in for a 9.30 covering with the handsome three parts brother to Green Desert resident at the picturesque Overbury Stud. All went to plan and we were on our way back to Newmarket before 10 and home for lunch.

Tuesday 7th April: BOBBY CHARLES finds his name down for Great Yarmouth on Easter Monday. He is entered in the last, a 10 furlong 61-75 handicap.

Wednesday 8th April: BOBBY CHARLES earns himself another entry at Yarmouth, this time on Tuesday. Once again this is a 10 furlong handicap but a better quality one. CONTEMPLATE is also entered at the seaside track. She may feature in a median auction maiden over a mile.

Friday 10th April: A fine spring morning sees more action out on the wide expanses of Newmarket Heath.

Saturday 11th April: BOBBY CHARLES won't be at Yarmouth on Bank Holiday Monday. Rain has not been plentiful enough, the clerk of the course is threatening to water over the weekend!

Sunday 12th April: It's a post bank holiday visit to Yarmouth for CONTEMPLATE. She's declared for the first, a maiden over the straight mile. We'll see what she makes of the trip and a return to the turf. David Probert, the very capable 3lb claimer, will do the steering.
