NEWS ARCHIVE

Week Beginning - 31.08.09

Monday 31st August:   Entries for  this week include a possible outing for THE FRYING PAN at Epsom on Thursday and a return to the track for CONTEMPLATE on Friday. She has an entry on the all weather at Lingfield that afternoon.

Good to see further improvements in DEADLY SILENCE'S pedigree. Olvia, his 2 year old sister by Giant's Causeway chalked up her second win in as many starts coming home ahead of the field in a smart race at Deauville on August 11th.

Wednesday 2nd September:   A frustrating couple of days as we try to find races for CONTEMPLATE and THE FRYING PAN. Both are balloted out of chosen fixtures. We'll try, try again.

The rain gauge is back in action with 3 mm recorded over Tuesday night and Wednesday morning. The rain has set in again so there'll be more to report. Before the heavens opened I managed an inspection of the DOMEDRIVER ex BILLIE BLUE yearling colt who is still resident at New England Stud. He is growing into a good looking young man.

Thursday 3rd September: Blustery today and another 5 mm of rain settled into the rain gauge over night.

Sunday 6th September: There is an entry for BIG NOISE at Doncaster next Friday. If he goes, he will be dropping back in trip from 7 furlongs to 6 and a half in a competitive 91 to 105 handicap. There seems no reason why he shouldn't cope with this. Louis-Philippe Beuzelin has his name beside the horse. However, the talented young apprentice had a nasty fall at Kempton last Thursday evening and will have to be passed fit to resume race riding. As ever, we will also be keeping an eye on the weather forecast. Testing ground conditions are not required! The Red House rain gauge has registered another big fat 0 over the last few days. Hopefully the Doncaster racecourse rain gauge will be equally obliging.
