Week Beginning - 27.04.2009
Monday 27th April: BOBBY CHARLES is not declared for Kempton on Wednesday evening as the men (and women) from the met. office keep us guessing on the ground at Folkestone the following day. However, ROMANTICIZE is given her very first career entry with a possible trip down to the picturesque Wiltshire track at Salisbury on Sunday. The chosen contest is a 6 furlong maiden. There is a sizeable entry but the race is the first preference to divide. We will see what transpires.
Yesterday was our first opportunity this year to do a Sunday 'turn out' with a spell in the playpens for the boys and girls.
Tuesday 28th April: BOBBY CHARLES is declared, with some trepidation, for Folkestone on Thursday. No-one seems to know where and when the rain might fall. Richard Thomas is booked to ride. The horse, pitted against 8 rivals, has only 8st 6lbs to lug around the 10 furlongs of the Kent course.
Friday 1st May: Not unsurprisingly it didn't rain and BOBBY CHARLES was denied the opportunity to compete at Folkestone. It hasn't rained here at Newmarket either and the rumblings over the state of the ground for this weekend's Classics are beginning. Watering, officially, was scheduled for Wednesday and possibly today. However, sources reveal that the taps were turned on both on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. ROMANTICIZE is due to have her first look at a racecourse on Sunday when she takes part in the first division of a 6 furlong maiden at Salisbury. Ted Durcan will be doing the steering
