Monday 4th May: ROMANTICIZE read her lines well and duly won her maiden at Salisbury on Sunday afternoon. She took on 11 others in the 6 furlong contest on firmish ground at the Wiltshire track and left them trailing in her wake as she powered up the hill towards the finishing line. Her work at home has been very professional but she did run a little green early on in the race. However, there was a noisy clang as the penny dropped and from that moment jockey Ted Durcan was pretty sure he was aboard the winner. A good day then and a satisfactory start to the filly's racing career. She coped with the travelling well, settled admirably in new surroundings in the racecourse stables and back home she seems no worse for wear.

Wednesday 6th May: In foal maiden mare TORVER, still resident here with us, was scanned in foal to Bertolini at 29 days on Monday. Blood was taken to ascertain her progesterone levels. Should they be on the low side she would be given a supplement to help maintain the pregnancy. No such measure is required, fortunately. 'Little Bert' is swimming around in a sea of progesterone as mum clocks up a 14.9 on a scale where 4 would have indicated a possible problem.
