Week Beginning - 18.05.2009 Monday 18th May: Activity at Gainsborough Stables has been frenetic. All that came down has been carted away and construction has been underway for some time. The view through the gates is noticeably different as the 3 new yards begin to take shape.
ROMANTICIZE has an opportunity to feature at her local course with an entry at Newmarket next Sunday. The race is a 6 furlong 3 year old fillies' handicap and if she runs it'll give us an idea of how accurate the handicapper has been with his allocation. The Salisbury form was given a bit of a boost this afternoon with the horse that was 7th behind her coming home in front at Bath, this time over 5 furlongs.
Tuesday 19th May: Both BOBBY CHARLES and ROMANTICIZE have entries at Leicester on Monday. He may contest a 10 furlong handicap and she is again entered in a 6 furlong handicap although, unlike the Newmarket race the previous day, this one is not restricted to fillies. TORVER was once again visited by the vet with the scanner to confirm the progress of her pregnancy. All is well as the little 44 day old chap(ess) dances merrily around in utero.
Wednesday 20th May: And a lovely day it has turned out to be, allowing us to open windows and turn out horses after work.
Friday 22nd May: ROMANTICIZE gets the thumbs up for Newmarket on Sunday with a declaration in the 6 furlong handicap. Ted Durcan is booked to ride.
Saturday 23rd May: Big day for IVY THE TERRIBLE . She has her first career entry in a 6 furlong median auction maiden race at Yarmouth next Friday. It has taken her an age to shed her winter coat but she is looking much more the part now. She is the granddaughter of our first ever winner, our beloved FOUR-LEGGED FRIEND so we will be feeling a little nostalgic when she makes her debut.
