Week Beginning - 16.03.09

 Monday 16th March: A trip to Walton Fields Stud near the pork pie town of Melton Mowbray was on the cards yesterday.  It was a mission to visit DOLLY COUGHDROP and her 3 week old daughter by First Trump. Mare and foal were both in fine fettle, junior displaying her mother's feisty temperament!

Saturday saw our new recruit,  the 2 year old filly by Barathea ex Hello Mary, debut outside on the Heath 'proper'. She was unfazed!

As for project 'Gainsborough': the walls are beginning to go back up again. Standing its ground in the centre of affairs is the indoor ride, whilst around it 3 new yards are being constructed.

Tuesday 24th March:  A trip up to New England stud confirms that the last in the BILLIE BLUE line is coming along nicely. As she basks in well deserved retirement her yearling colt by Domedriver is out with the boys enjoying those stress-free months that precede life as a racehorse

Meanwhile, there are a couple of rather nice pedigree updates for 2 of our fillies. SANCTUM sees some added black type in her second dam when Big Robert hits 3rd place  in the Listed Dragonfly Stakes at Kempton. This is particularly attractive as both he and she are by the same stallion, namely Medicean. And ROMANTICIZE'S full sister, Romantic Verse sluices in over 6 furlongs at Wolverhampton, to bring her tally of wins to 3, with 2 seconds and a third from 13 starts.
